The Independent Police Investigative Directorate has arrested a 53-year-old police officer from George after he allegedly assaulted his wife.
The Warrant Officer was arrested at his house on Friday afternoon.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the suspect hit the victim in the face at their house on 31 October.
The suspect has a pending case against him that his wife withdrew following a similar incident in December 2020.
He is expected to appear in the George Magistrate's court on Monday.
