At least seven people were killed in a number of accidents on Eastern Cape roads on Friday and Saturday.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says three people, including two paramedics, were killed in an accident between a truck and an ambulance on the N10 between Cookhouse and Cradock on Saturday morning.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says the accident happened about 30 km outside Cradock.
He says one person was killed in a head-on collision between a bakkie and a truck on the N2 between KwaBhaca, previously Mt. Frere and Qumbu on Friday evening.
The driver of the bakkie, a 41-year old man, died at the scene, while the truck driver escaped unharmed.
Binqose says a pedestrian was killed on the N2 near Idutywa in the early hours of Saturday morning, while another man was hit by a vehicle on the R411 near Mqanduli on Friday.
He later died in hospital.
Binqose says the female driver of a Datsun Go was killed on the N2 near East London when she collided head-on with a cash-in-transit vehicle on Saturday morning.
Police are investigating cases of culpable homicide.
