George police have arrested a suspect for the murder of local taxi boss, Tom Queba.
Police spokesperson, Captain Bernadine Steyn, says the man was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning at his home in Thembalethu Township.
She says he is expected to appear in the George Magistrate's Court on Friday.
Queba, who was the taxi industry's chief negotiator in the roll-out of the George Integrated Transport Network, was found in his mini-bus on the N-2 near Thembalethu on the 25th of May, with a bullet wound to the head.
He died later in hospital.
Western Cape Transport Minister, Donald Grant, has welcomed the arrest.
"I hope this is going to bring some closure to Queba's family. What we would really like to see now is a prosecution as that will be the real deterrent for taxi violence" he said
