A 51-year-old man from Conville is expected to appear in the George Magistrates court on Monday for being in possession of an unlicenced Taurus 6.35 pistol that was linked to a burglary in 2005.
Spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says police were busy with routine patrols over the weekend and spotted a group of suspicious looking men standing on the corner of Pienaar en Luister streets.
He says when the men noticed police they ran into different directions and cops gave chase.
Upon catching them they were searched and police found the Taurus in possession of one of the men.
Pojie says they soon discovered that the gun was stolen during a housebreaking in George over 14-years-ago.
The firearm will now be sent for ballistic tests to see if it was used in the commission of other crimes.
