A 46-year-old man is expected to make his first court appearance in George on Monday for allegedly killing his girlfriend over the weekend.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says the suspect himself alerted police of his girlfriend's sudden death, however, when officers arrived on the scene they found the victim with multiple injuries and visible wounds.
He says the body of 30-year-old Andrisia Alaart was found lying on a mattress in the living room with a wound to her head that appeared to be from blunt force trauma.
Captain Pojie says a post mortem will be conducted this week.
He says investigators also found traces of blood in the hallway indicating a possible physical altercation.
The boyfriend was arrested at the scene and will be charged with murder.
