George dentist back in court

Convicted repeat sex offender, Ian Venter, is expected to be back in the George Regional Court today.

This time for breaching an earlier court order while under house arrest that prohibited the 47-year-old dentist from working with children.

Venter, a father of three, was recently sentenced in the George Circuit High Court to three years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a then 12-year-old boy.

The victim was a friend of his son and the incident happened in 2015 during a sleepover at Venter's Herolds Bay home.

Venter's name is already in the National Register for sex offenders after he was sentenced to four years correctional supervision for having sex with a 15-year-old boy in 2011.

For this, he was sentenced to four years of house arrest and one of the conditions of his sentence was that he was not allowed to work with children.

Venter had allegedly breached the condition and continued treating children at his dental practice while serving his sentence.
