Police in George are appealing to the public for help in identifying a gunman who shot and wounded a policeman on Thursday night.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says the incident happened in Thembalethu Township.
He has the details.
"The incident happened just before 11 o clock. The 35 year old Constable was patrolling and pulled over a vehicle for a routine check. When he approached the vehicle the suspect opened fire hitting the officer in the face and arm, before he ran off.
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
