Oakhurst Insurance says its eager to launch the first and second phase renovation of the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre.
And, according to the company they are thrilled with the results after spending more than R500 000 on the project.
According to a statement, "phase 1 of the renovations went off to a speedy start with the painting of the exterior, renovating and redecorating the foyer, front house spaces, updating the backstage areas and dressing rooms, as well as painting and fixing the building's roof."
"Phase II of the renovations was to build an extension between the theatre building and the wardrobe area. This new extended area, which will now be named "The Backstage Lounge Café" boasts of a full kitchen with storage space, cupboards, counters, cafe tables and comfortable lounge area for the comfort of our patrons. In addition to these renovations, the bar area has also been totally redone with striking stained glass windows, beautiful wallpaper, curtains, carpeting, flooring and incredible chandeliers."
The theatre's chairperson, Heather Stead, is elated with the renovations, saying, "At last, dramatic glamour has returned to our theatre. We are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm, vision and dedication shown by the Oakhurst team under Lindsay Hogan, Project Manager, and Werner Ferreira, Construction Manager. We are looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Oakhurst Insurance and to seeing some of the Oakhurst personnel on our stage, in the audience or even enjoying a coffee at our new "The Backstage Lounge Café".
The theatre will reveal and celebrate both the first and second phase of the renovations at the opening of the Razzle and Dazzle 'Em show, a musical extravaganza boasting 10 of some of the best musicals around, produced by Edwina Rapley, during the month of June 2014.
