Western Cape health officials say the Garden Route has reached the peak of its Covid-19 infections and is now on a sustained downward trajectory.
The region was recently declared a hotspot area.
Provincial health spokesperson, Nadia Ferreira says most new cases are being reported in the Hessequa and Little Karoo areas while there is a decrease in Knysna.
She says, however, district hospitals in Oudtshoorn and Riversdale in particular, are still under pressure while the George hospital reached full capacity for Covid-19 patients.
Ferreira says people should remain vigilant, wear their masks and keep a safe social distance.
