Port Elizabeth police have arrested a 23-year-old gang affiliate, just hours after yet another deadly gang shooting in the Metro's northern areas.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says four people were standing in Avalon Street at around 9 pm on Sunday night when two men came up to them and started shooting.
The 23-year-old Kurtley Bruiners sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach and chest and died on the scene.
His three friends had a lucky escape and were able to flee the scene without sustaining any injuries.
Colonel Naidu says the PE anti-gang unit and the Provincial gang crime investigation unit were put on the case and in a matter of hours arrested a young suspect in a house in Gelvandale.
He is being held in custody and will appear in court soon on a charge of murder.
