Freedom short-lived for Mossel Bay escapee

Dale Harmse: SAPS

The 48-year-old Dale Harmse who escaped from the Mossel Bay police holding cells on Tuesday morning has been caught, hours after he escaped.
Harmse was due to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on fraud charges.
He allegedly pretended to be an attorney and defrauded a businessman from Oudtshoorn out of R500 000.
Harmse escaped at around 7 am on Tuesday by pretending to be another person who was supposed to be released.
Captain Malcolm Pojie says Harmse was re-arrested at a tyre business in George.
It is suspected that he was on his way to Oudtshoorn.
Harmse now faces an additional charge of Escape from Lawful Custody.
Captain Pojie says a departmental investigation into the circumstances surrounding Harmse's escape will be instituted to run parallel with the criminal investigation.
