One person died on the N2 near Kinkelbos, in a second fatal accident involving an ambulance in the Eastern Cape in just four days.
Provincial Transport Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said the ambulance was transporting a patient to Gqeberha when it collided head-on with a bakkie on Monday night.
He said the driver of the bakkie died at the scene, while the two EMS crew members sustained minor injuries.
Binqose said the patient did not sustain any injuries.
The accident comes just days after two paramedics were killed in an accident between a truck and an ambulance on the N10 between Cookhouse and Cradock on Saturday.
A memorial service will be held at the Lingelihle Stadium in Cradock on Thursday for Ntombehlubi Rasmeni and Tembekile Damane.
