Frederick Gordon will for the first time give his version of events on Friday in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates court following the brutal assault of his wife, Avril, two years ago.
On Monday, the state called its last two witnesses in the case, Gordon's 33-year-old daugther Valerie Shaw and SAPS forensic analyst, Mathys Hoffman.
Shaw spoke of the anguish of seeing her badly beaten mother in hospital, saying that no human being deserved to go through what her mother had to endure.
Hoffman testified that DNA found on a knife, mattress and on a t-shirt, all matched Avril Gordon's DNA.
