Airforce flight sergeant, Frederick Gordon, has been found guilty of the brutal assault and rape of his wife, Avril, between November 2010 and March 2011.
Magistrate Chris Kruger on Tuesday convicted Gordon on two counts of rape, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and kidnapping.
However Gordan was acquitted on the charge of attempted murder.
In his judgement, Kruger said he found the states case to be "exceptionally strong" adding that Gordon was a "poor witness and his evidence full of improbabilities."
Magistrate Kruger also said that Gordon had answered questions with "arguments" and that he was "grasping at straws", even so much so that he had accused the court of altering the charges against him
Forty-four year-old Gordon was accused of beating and starving Avril until she was close to death before she was eventually rescued by police.
Avril Gordon did not attend court proceedings which were postponed until the 17th of September for pre-sentencing argument.
