Port Elizabeth police have arrested a 35-year old man for allegedly raping a 5-year old child.
Spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, says the incident happened in bushes in Windvogel on Monday night.
He says the suspect is out on bail for a similar offence, and is due to appear in court on Wednesday on that charge.
Labans says community members heard of the incident, and marched to his house, where police already arrested the man.
He says the angry community members damaged a police vehicle in the process.
