Pre-sentencing arguments in the Frederick Gordon assault case were postponed in the PE Magistrates's court on Tuesday morning when Gordon announced that he had fired his lawyer.
Gordon is charged with the brutal assault of his wife, Avril and was found guilty in July of rape and kidnapping.
He was however acquitted on a charge of attempted murder.
Gordon told the court that he could no longer work with his lawyer and was seeking new legal representation.
