A Port Elizabeth man charged with the brutal assault of his wife, Avril Gordon, continues to deny that he had anything to do with her injuries.
A smiling and laughing Frederick Gordon told the magistrates court on Monday that he had no idea how she obtained several injuries, including multiple nasal fractures and lacerations.
The court heard that on the day of his arrest in 2011, nine of Avril's ribs had been broken which had damaged a lung and was life threatening.
Despite a health professional testifying that Avril had old wounds, Gordon continued to maintain that it was not in his nature to inflict these injuries on his wife and that he had never seen them prior to his arrest.
At one point, magistrate Chris Kruger, in response to Gordon's continued outbursts, warned him to listen to the questions and answer them.
