Fraud charges against Moosagie's provisionally withdrawn

Fraud charges against Port Elizabeth's well known Moosagie Family have been provisionally withdrawn in the city's commercial crimes court.

Missing businessman Amier Moosagie, his wife Baheeja, and daughter Lutfia face charges of fraud alternatively theft totalling close on R2-million rand.

Mother and daughter made a brief appearance in court on Monday.

The state confirmed that the matter could not proceed in the absence of the third accused, Amier Moosagie.

He has been missing since going on holiday in Port St Johns in December while out on bail pending sentencing in a separate matter.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for him, while his bail has also been cancelled.

According to the charge sheet the alleged fraud against the SA Revenue Service relates to a potential prejudice of over R700 000, while they're also accused of under-declaring more than R900 000 in a bid to evade tax.

The charges against mom and daughter relate to their company Commando Security Services.
