Four suspects from KwaZulu-Natal have been arrested in East London for possession of suspected stolen property.
Police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni says an intelligence-driven operation was conducted on Friday by East London Crime Intelligence and Visible Policing after receiving information about suspects who were involved in business robberies and bank cards scams.
He says during the operation, two men and two women, aged between 23 and 38, were arrested
Tonjeni says it is alleged that the suspects booked accommodation at one of the local establishments, and upon searching the premises, suspected stolen clothing with an estimated value of R25 000 from different stores and two cellphones were recovered and seized.
A hired vehicle, which was utilized to commit these crimes, was also confiscated.
The four will appear in the East London Magistrates’ Court on Monday on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.
Tonjeni says the possibility of more charges cannot be ruled out.
