Jeffrey's Bay police arrested four suspected stock thieves shortly after they loaded five sheep in a bakkie on a farm near the town on Saturday morning.
Police Captain Khaya Tonjeni says it is alleged that the farmer contacted the police after he noticed suspicious people on his farm near the R102.
He says the Humansdorp K9 unit and police members responded swiftly and arrested the suspects, who were travelling in a red Mazda Rustler bakkie in the direction of Jeffrey's Bay.
Tonjeni says police found the sheep with their legs tied with wires and later recovered an additional nine sheep also tied and hidden near the farm.
The estimated value of the stock is R53 800.
The four suspects, aged between 20 and 50, are expected to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate's Court on Monday.
