Knysna police have opened an inquest docket after four people died in a fire that gutted a wood-structure home.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said the fire occurred on Saturday night in Concordia.
He said Knysna Fire Brigade and police responded to the fire and when it was extinguished the bodies of the four were found.
Pojie said a couple and their two children, the youngest said to be nine months, died in the fire.
He said the cause of the blaze is under investigation and the names of the deceased have not yet been released.
