Four people gunned down whilst drinking at a tavern

Four people were gunned down in a tavern on Saturday night in Arcadia, Port Elizabeth.

Police Spokesperson Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says at about 8.30 last night a white Corsa Bakkie arrived at the tavern in Oosthuizen Street and started shooting at the patrons.

Two women aged 20 and 24 and two men aged 30 and 31 died at the scene.

A 17 year old girl was critically injured.

Labans says the motive is not known at this stage and all possibilities will be investigated.

Meanwhile police are investigating two murders which took place in Booysens park.

Labans says on Saturday afternoon two men got into an argument in Kosana street when the one stabbed the other.

The suspect was arrested shortly after.

The second murder took place in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Labans says police were called to the scene after residents heard gunshots outside.

Upon their arrival they saw a man lying on his stomach in a pool of blood.

His identity is not known to police and no suspects have been arrested.
