Four people have been killed and five others injured following a horrific head-on collision on the N2 between Ngqushwa and Makhanda.
A spokesperson for Provincial Traffic Unathi Binqose says the accident, involving a Polo Vivo and a Toyota LDV, happened on Thursday afternoon.
He says all the occupants of the Polo, two women and a three-year-old child died, while a passenger from the bakkie died on the scene.
The bakkie was travelling from Peddie and all six occupants are allegedly from a local farm.
Binqose says it's alleged that reckless and negligent driving was the main contributing factor to the accident as the road is still under construction and is regulated by a stop and go.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
The names of the deceased will be released once the next of kin have been informed.
