An East London man whose son made headlines when his belongings were urinated on at Stellenbosch University at the weekend says he will not be meeting with the perpetrator's father despite him trying to plead his son's case.
Mkuseli Kaduka says the father of Theuns du Toit did reach out to him but he has no plans to meet with the family, although they would love for that to happen.
"There are certain forces who are driving their agenda and perpetuating false information," Kaduka wrote on Facebook.
He added that he is ‘very committed to seeing this fight through to the end’.
"If I come out of this with anything it will be the dignity of my son (Babalo Ndwayana) restored and the perpetrator facing what's due to him. I will not waiver nor yield in my quest to seek justice," wrote Kaduka.
Ndwayana, a first-year Agriculture student in the Huis Marais residence at Stellenbosch University, has since laid criminal charges against Du Toit, including charges of housebreaking, malicious damage to property and crimen injuria.
Du Toit has already been suspended by the university while the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch University says a swift and detailed investigation into the incident is currently underway.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the University said the investigation was a top priority and a final outcome was expected in the next few days.
"The final outcome must set the precedent to avoid any repeat of proven breaches of the right to personal human dignity on the SU campus in the future,” read the statement.
The University was thrust into the spotlight when video footage of Du Toit urinating on Ndwayana’s belongings in the early hours of Sunday morning went viral on social media.
