Four people losts their lives in two separate road accidents in the Eastern Cape on Saturday night.
Provincial traffic department spokesperson Unathi Binqose says two people in a Toyota Tazz were killed in East London near Blaney at the intersection towards Qonce when their car collided with a hearse.
The driver of the hearse was severely injured.
Binqose reports that in another accident in Gqeberha, an articulated Scania Manganese Truck with an unknown number of occupants collided head on with an Opel Corsa hatchback with five occupants.
The accident happened around 9 pm on Saturday at the Motherwell Monument Crossing and claimed the lives of two occupants of the Corsa.
The other three people in the car sustained severe injuries.
The driver and the other occupants of the truck escaped unharmed.
Cases of culpable homicide are been investigated.
