Four people have been killed in a head-on collision between two buses on the R61 near Aberdeen towards Beaufort West.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says a bus, traveling from Mthatha with 36 occupants to Cape Town collided with an oncoming bus with an unknown number of occupants early on Sunday morning.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says the bus from Mthatha overturned, and four women were declared dead at the scene.
He says 28 people were injured - five of them critically.
They were taken to the Midlands Provincial hospital in Aberdeen.
The cause of the accident is still unknown and police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
