Four people were killed when a fire broke out at a gun shop in Johannesburg

supplied: ER24

Four people, including a teenager, have been killed after a fire broke out at a gun store in Glenanda, south of Johannesburg.

A spokesperson for ER24 Russel Meiring says when paramedics arrived on the scene just before 12 noon, they found local security forces and the Fire Brigade already on scene.

He says explosions could be heard coming from inside the gun shop.

Meiring says five critical patients including a 15-year-old boy were rescued out of the building by bystanders, however, their vital signs were rapidly diminishing.

He says two men, a woman, and the teenager were declared dead on the scene.

The fifth critically injured patient was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent care.

The details surrounding the incident are unknown and will form part of a police investigation.

The shop was identified as Silva Arms, situated in the Glenanda Village Shopping Centre.

Names of the deceased are not yet known.
