Residents of Kariega cannot stop talking about the new mall in town that was seven years in the making.
Thousands of residents flocked to Thursday's opening of the multi-million rand Corkwood Square, already christened by locals as "The Cork".
Residents braved both the wet and cold weather, which left the 27 000m²-mall bursting at the seams.
Plans to build Corkwood Square had been in the pipeline for nearly seven years, and construction under real estate development company Keystone Group finally got underway in September 2019.
The mall is located along Union Road, on a major feeder road that connects Kariega, Despatch, and Kwanobuhle.
"The Cork" includes the town's first-ever Checkers, Dischem and Burger King outlet as well as other well known national brands.
