Four men, accused of copper cable theft, appeared in the Queenstown Magistrate's Court on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Pumzile Makaula says the four will remain in custody and will be back in court on August 28.
They were arrested by Transnet Securities who called police after they were found in possession of copper cable valued at R273,000.
Makaula says it is not known how the suspects from Johannesburg stole the cables.
She says their five accomplices are still at large, and investigations are continuing.
