The fires raging at Karatara near Knysna on Monday claimed four lives, including two toddlers and a baby.
The fourth victim was an adult male.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie said authorities were called to the scene at around 6pm. At the time of writing, no further details were available.
Authorities also evacuated more than 200 in the area and they are now being accommodated in the Karatara Community Hall.
