Eastern Cape police have launched a manhunt for three suspects who shot and killed four family members and wounded another one in three separate attacks in Tsolo in the OR Tambo district.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says the suspects arrived in a silver-grey Toyota double cab bakkie at a homestead where a traditional ceremony was held on Saturday afternoon.
He says it is alleged that two of the suspects, armed with an AK47 rifle and a pistol entered the yard, and without a word, they shot and killed three men, aged between 28 and 78.
Kinana says it is further alleged that the suspects drove off and came across another man, aged 28, whom they shot and seriously wounded.
He says according to information, the suspects then proceeded to a house in the same area where they shot and killed a 73-year-old man.
The motive for the attacks is unknown.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga has ordered the establishment of an integrated Task Team to prioritise the investigation and ensure that everyone responsible is brought to justice.
