The bodies of four people who died in a helicopter crash earlier this week in Lusikisiki have been retrieved.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mduduzi Godlwana, says the Robinson R44 fell down a cliff on Wednesday afternoon.
The aircraft was flying from Margate to the South Coast when it went down. Godlwana says police and rescue teams could not reach the crash site on Wednesday as it was too dark and the rescue mission had to be postponed until Thursday.
The bodies were only retrieved at 3'o clock in the afternoon due to weather conditions. He says the deceased include a 50-year-old owner of the aircraft and his 24-year-old son.
Godlwana says names of the victims cannot be released yet."At the moment we are busy investigating the incident. We cannot release any names. The wife of one of the deceased was informed yesterday, but it is still too early to release the names".
The Civil Aviation Authority has also started their investigation.
