Port Elizabeth police have arrested 4 suspects for the illegal possession of perlemoen.
Spokesperson, Captain Johan Rheeder says police confiscated a total of 417 kgs of perlemoen to the value of more than R200-thousand in two separate raids in Sidwell.
He says two men, aged 25 and 37 were caught in possession of 217 kilograms of perlemoen on Tuesday night, while a man (43) and a woman (30) were arrested on Wednesday morning, after 200 kgs of fresh abalone was found hidden in a plastic drum.
Rheeder says the suspects will appear in court soon.
