Four men are due to appear in court in East London on Monday after being arrested for abalone poaching over the weekend.
Police spokesperson, Captain Hazel Mqala, said police received information on Saturday evening about diving activity at Gonubie Black Rock.
She said members of the East London K9 unit responded on foot patrols and others at observation points.
She said the three men, aged between 25 and 30, were arrested when they came out of the water.
Mqala said further investigation led to the arrest of another suspect and the recovery of 297 units of abalone as well as diving equipment.
