Imtiaz Sooliman, the founder of the humanitarian organisation Gift of the Givers, will be one of several people to receive honorary doctorates from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
NMMU says Sooliman will receive an honorary doctorate in philosophy.
In the citation, NMMU says through his organisation Gift of the Givers, Sooliman, has been instrumental in changing the lives of millions of people in more than 40 countries around the world.
Sooliman gave up his career as a medical doctor in pursuit of his passions in humanitarian aid.
