Eastern Cape police confirmed the death of a Fort Hare University ‘protector’ who was killed in an accident on Sunday.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said the accident happened in the early hours of the morning.
He said according to information, the deceased, who is described as a protector, was driving a Mercedez Benz from Bhisho direction towards Ginsburg with three passengers when his vehicle was hit on the driver's side by a bakkie.
“The driver died instantly at the scene on Cambridge Road in King Williams Town,” he said. The three passengers were rushed to hospital.
Kinana said the circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
