A female student from Fort Hare University appeared in court on Monday in connection with the death of a Masters student over the weekend.
Yonela Boli, 24, died in hospital on Sunday after being stabbed in an Alice campus residence on Saturday morning.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali, said the case against the woman was postponed to Tuesday for her to obtain legal representation.
He said she was not asked to plead.
Meanwhile, Fort Hare University spokesperson, Tandi Mapukata, said they were saddened by Boli's tragic death.
"The University is very, very saddened by the incident, mostly because we've just adopted a gender-based policy which looks into all of these things," she said.
She said Fort Hare was also offering to counsel to all those students affected by the tragedy.
