A former Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Administration Clerk found guilty of fraud and forgery amounting to over R600 000 has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment by the Port Elizabeth Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.
The 48-year-old Stephanie Reeners was sentenced on Tuesday after being convicted of more than 400 combined counts of fraud and forgery which were committed between February 2012 and November 2017.
National Prosecuting Authority Spokesperson, Anelisa Ngcakani says while working at the Central Information Centre of the Metro, the convicted fraudster submitted tax invoices to the Treasury division and copies to service providers for payment.
The court also proved that Reeners used her supervisor’s salary information to create three false salary advices under her name.
She was sentenced after pleading guilty on all the charges last month.
