Former financial administrator in PE sent to jail for fraud

A former financial administrator at a Port Elizabeth company has been jailed for 12-years after being convicted of fraud.

The 43-year-old Jaco Scheepers was sentenced in the city's Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Wednesday.

He was found guilty of embezzling just over R2 million from his employer, Stevo Imports and Distribution Agencies between 2017 and 2019.

The Port Elizabeth based company traded as Shopfit and Scheepers’ duties included administrating payments to their suppliers.

The company held an account at Nedbank to which Scheepers had authorised access to as he made payments to suppliers via electronic funds transfer (EFT).
