Former candidate councillor in court for allegedly raping teen

A former candidate councillor for the Patriotic Alliance appeared in court in Uitenhage on Tuesday on a charge of rape.The 48-year-old man was arrested at his home on Monday.

It's alleged that he raped a 12-year-old girl on the premises of a school in Rosedale where he was employed until Monday when he reportedly resigned.

The case against the man was postponed to next Tuesday.

He remains in custody.
