Forensic tests for Mandela family remains

The remains of three of former president Nelson Mandela's children will undergo forensic tests before being taken to Qunu on Thursday.

Eastern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela says the bodies are currently at a mortuary in Mthatha.

He said they'll be taken for forensic testing after 9 o'clock on Thursday morning and will then be transported to Qunu for reburial.

Mandela's grandson Mandla Mandela had the bodies exhumed and moved to Mvezo in 2011.

The Eastern Cape High Court in Mthatha ordered late yesterday that the sheriff of the court exhume the graves in Mvezo and move them to the family farm in Qunu.

Meanwhile, the Mandela family has brought criminal charges of tampering with a grave against Mandla Mandela.

Mandla will address the media on Thursday to tell his side of the story.
