A 55-year old foreign tourist has died while swimming in the sea at Jeffrey's Bay.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon says their local duty crew were activated just after 6 pm on Saturday, following reports of a man which was rescued from the surf at Point.
He says when they arrived at the scene, rescuers found that the man had been rescued from shallow surf by a bystander and CPR efforts commenced.
Lambinon says despite extensive efforts by NSRI medics and other paramedics, the man was declared dead at the scene.
He says paramedics suspect that he suffered a heart attack, and the body has been handed over to the Forensic Pathology Services.
The man and his wife were on holiday in Jeffreys Bay together with friends from Johannesburg.
"The lady who rescued the man from the surf has been commended for her involvement', Lambinon said.
