Police in Port Elizabeth are investigating a case of attempted murder after a foreign national was shot several times in the city's CBD.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the 44-year-old man was standing on the corner of Govan Mbeki and Elizabeth street just before noon when an unknown man approached him.
The suspect fired several shots before jumping into a nearby Nissan bakkie and fleeing the scene.
Naidu says the victim was rushed to hospital by his family and his condition at this stage is unknown.
The motive is also unclear at this stage.
