A foreign national who was supposed to sign a summons to testify in a court case in East London has ended up being arrested.
Captain Stephen Marais says when police arrived at the Spaza shop where he worked in Duncan Village he locked himself in and refused to open the door.
Police became suspicious and phoned the owner to come and open the shop.
The man's room was searched and police found an unlicensed firearm with ammunition hidden in his mattress.
He will appear in the East London Magistrates court on Thursday.
