Two East London policemen chased a suspected drug dealer on foot for more than a kilometre through the city on Tuesday morning before getting their man.

He says when the policemen, driving an unmarked car, introduced themselves as police officers the suspect bolted.
Marais says when he eventually ran out of steam the policemen collared him and found an assortment of drugs on his person.
"Once police caught up with the suspect they managed to search him and they recovered 8 wrappers of crack cocaine, 9 tick straws and 23 bankies of dagga, once at the police station they established that the 29 year old suspect has got a previous case against him, also a drug charge" Marais said
