The formal inquest into the death of Ford Kuga owner, Reshall Jimmy, is scheduled to start in the Western Cape High Court on Monday.
The matter is being spearheaded by former state advocate Gerrie Nel, who is now heading up the private prosecution's unit of the organisation, Afriforum.
Jimmy burned to death in December 2015 when his Ford Kuga burst into flames in the Wilderness.
Afriforum investigator, Andrew Leask, says they've heard that there might be a postponement on Monday at Ford's request but the reasons are not yet known.
He told Algoa FM News that it's important that the inquest proceeds.
Jimmy's SUV was one of more than 50 Ford Kuga's to catch alight across the country.
In January 2017, Ford recalled several thousand 1.6 litre models following a spate of engine fires later linked to the engine overheating.
The latest casualty of the Ford Kuga fire debacle was an East London motorist, whose vehicle was seen on fire on the North/East Expressway on Friday.
However, further details were not immediately available.
