Five people from the Lukholweni township near Matatiele appeared in the Maluti Magistrate court on Wednesday on charges of malicious damage to police property.
Lieutenant Raphael Motloung says police believe the incident is linked to the murder case of a Lukholweni constable, who allegedly shot two people dead last weekend.
Motloung says police are still looking for other suspects involved in the damaging of three cars and police barracks in the township.
The case has been postponed to the fourth of November.
Meanwhile: the 24-year-old constable, identified as Nkosithethile Magayiyana appeared in the Maluti magistrate's court on Monday.
He has been charged with two murders.
Police Lieutenant Khaya Thonjeni told AlgoaFM news that a preliminary investigation indicated that all parties involved were at a tavern when the shooting broke out.
The constable's case has been postponed to the 2nd of November and he remains in custody.
