Members of the Port Elizabeth police's tactical response team foiled an armed robbery in Markman township Friday morning, killing five robbers in a shoot-out.
Police spokesperson, captain Andre' Beetge, says the incident happened in Chevrolet Street at around 8.45.
He says the gang tried to rob United National Breweries.
"Police responding to the scene found 5 robbers busy robbing the cash office on the premises, a shoot-out ensued and 5 robbers were killed in the process and six fire arms confiscate" Beetge said.
Two suspects are still at large.
