Police in Mdantsane in East London have opened an inquest docket, after five people were found dead in an RDP house in Mdantsane.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi, says the deceased were four women and one adult male.
According to Captain Mbi, the deceased may have suffocated to death after inhaling toxic fumes from a generator.
Mbi says two of the deceased are family members and the rest are friends who were visiting.
He says their names have not yet been released.
The oldest victim was the man who was 60.
Mbi says the other 2 female adults are in their 40's and they are still looking for the identity documents which belong to the other two.
