A three-year-old boy from George and his sister of just one-year and three months were among five victims of a horror accident on the R404 towards Herolds Bay early Saturday morning.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said one person survived the accident after getting out of a stationary car to call for help after they had run out of petrol.
"We are investigating a culpable homicide following an incident this morning at about 1.30AM when a Pajero (Mitsubishi) collided from the rear with a Conquest (Toyota) with five occupants inside it.
All the occupants, including the driver, passenger and a woman with two children in the back died on the scene on impact. It's a boy (3yrs) and a girl, (1yr and 3 months)," said Pojie.
"We've arrested a 31-year-old man. He's currently in custody at the George police holding cells. We're investigating culpable homicide and possibly a drunken driving charge will also be added."
The names of the victims have will be released later.
